![]() ![]() Even though they were busy, our service was fast and friendly. It was pretty busy as they were setting up outside for a 9 PM fireworks show - lots of folks at the bar, in the restaurant, and outside on the patio. It's right on the river, at Fort McAllister Marina - beautiful setting and a nice little building. They've been telling us for months now about how often they go to Fish Tales and how much they like the spot and the food, so we went with them Sunday night. We visited friends who live in Richmond Hill over Labor Day weekend. They're not and it's a real shame because Fish Tales truly has all the makings of a wonderful destination for good food and entertainment. It is apparent to me that Fish Tales does not depend upon its restaurant for its income otherwise, they would be taking care of business. I hope it's the prior because people can be taught to cook. I think Fish Tales must have a chef who either literally does not know how to cook or does not care. Our mixed vegetables were unfortunately overdone. My other dining companion had the steamed shellfish and he said it was fine but it would have been so much better if it wasn't so greasy. It may have started out as a great piece of chicken but it came to our table tough and dry as any chicken I've ever tried. One of my fellow diners ordered baked chicken and it was virtually inedible. Obviously they do not know how to make blackened fish. We were all surprised and I didn't quite know what to say. I didn't see any blackening seasoning on it at all. "Are you sure you brought me the blackened fish?" I asked. It look baked to my two dinner companions and me. I ordered blackened fish and what I got what not blackened at all. That's sad considering we were the one of two tables of diners there for an early dinner. First, our server knew very little about the menu items and she seemed rather bored. The venue is gorgeous the restaurant overlooks boats and water. ![]() I hope you have a great week and I look forward to meeting you in the future. This restaurant has so much potential and yet, sadly, it's being squandered. Please ask for me and I will make sure your service is top notch and your bill will be on us. Please give us another chance to show you who we really are and that we can make your next visit a great one. Gail, I understand if you never want to step foot in fish Tales again but I would ask you to reconsider. If you could provide me with some information (Sever: Name, gender, day of visit, did you sit inside or outside?) it will help me fix these problems. As far as the credit card situation goes, I can only tell you that we are so much better than that. The water is to warm and thus makes the oysters unsafe for consumption. We use only local oysters for our buckets and my staff knows that we never, nor have ever, had oyster buckets in the summer. For the life of me I can’t figure out why a staff member would tell you we have oyster buckets. We constantly brief our staff on item availabilities, as well as, proper situational decorum. I can assure you that we do not train our staff to treat guest this way and we will not tolerate such gross incompetents to represent Fish Tales. I’m embarrassed beyond words regarding the way one of my staff handled the situation. I want to apologize to you for the poor service. Good afternoon Gail, My name is Will Collins and I’m the GM at Fish Tales. From the oysters, to the service, to the unnecessary embarrassment, It is not a place I that I want to return. The waitress came back and put the receipt in front of me and said that my AMEX had gone through. I told her that she needed to re-run the VISA because there was a problem on their end. The waitress came back and announced that my AMEX was declined. ![]() I gave her my AMEX, while she was gone, I called VISA and they told me that there had been no card run from Fish Tales. ![]() She came back and announced to the entire restaurant that it was declined. When we finally got the waitress to bring the check, I gave her my VISA. We had to flag down the waitress for drink refills. My daughter had to tell her to change the one order from 1 lb to 2 lbs. (you save about $10) The waitress totally freaked out and said no. My daughter was perusing the menu, then asked if she could just increase the daughter-in-law's crab leg order from1 lb to 2 lbs. We called before we went to find out the price of a bucket of oysters. I can always understand when a restaurant is busy and it takes the server a while, I never understand when the server is just incompetent. ![]()
